Preparing for your lifestyle newborn session with ivybella photography-rochester minnesota photographer

Do you ever wonder what a lifestyle newborn session involves? Or heck, what does lifestyle even mean? What should you expect and prepare for? Photos can be super stressful-trust me, I get it 110%, especially after having a newborn!!!! The last thing I want to do is try to find outfits and get ready and then worry if my photos will even turn out if my kids don’t behave or I have dark circles under my eyes from the fact that I haven’t slept in the last 22 years.

This is where I come in!!!! All you have to really do is book with me and I will take care of the rest!!!

So-what does lifestyle mean in the photography world? It means a more candid, natural, relaxed, less posed type of photography that focuses on your love, details and connection between your family members. For me that means during a newborn session, I do help guide and “pose” you, but I focus on baby in mom and dad’s arms, siblings holding them or a parent helping them hold the baby, and a few relaxed type of photos in a basket. I still do use wraps, adorable outfits and headbands/bonnets, but I truly am in love with a tiny squishy baby in their parents arms. That to me is something I think will stand the test of time. Not a trend, not a prop, not something that is just for the now, but photos you can look back at be in love with for years to come, instead of photos you look back and and wonder, why did we choose that??!!

Here’s how my newborn process works: once you book with me, you will receive a client portal with your virtual styling tool-https://www.styleandselect.com/ and start having fun looking at outfits. They have an option to purchase the items directly from their website-however I do have lots of dresses for mamas, outfits for newborns and items for up to 24 months that are also listed in there under client closet. I do have some older kiddo outfits and am expanding my outfits I lend my clients every day!! Typically I ask for a neutral shirt for dads-which most people already have so there isn’t anything extra to buy. If you aren’t jiving with the styling tool, I step in and will put together ideas and outfits for you! I’m here to help 100% and am happy to! Styling is so very important and a huge part of my process to make sure your session is cohesive, unique to you, and gorgeous.

After baby is born I work with you on the date of the session and your preference of indoor or outside (weather permitting) and I give you a few options for locations but I have the best of the best picked out already that has the perfect lighting, and of course most people opt to choose my in home studio located in Stewartville, MN, which is only about 10-15 minutes from Rochester, MN. The studio is warm, cozy, comfy and has all the amenities you could possibly want from a photography session.

At our session, I will help you with posing, and you won’t be wondering what to do or how to “pose”. I often times try to capture the most precious in between moments without you even realizing it. We of course do some posed, everyone smiling and looking at the camera photos, since grandma’s love that! But my goal is to showcase your new tiny addition and the love between you.

After our session I will send your gallery with a slideshow set to music and you get to choose your collection , download them, and use your print credit to get some of the photos in your hands! With all of my collections you get a print release as well if you prefer to print them yourself.

And that’s a wrap!! If you ever have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me. I’m always here to hold your hand and guide you through this. My goal is a stress free experience that you will be happy to share with your family and friends! xoxo, Tara
